DEVANA / DZIEWANNA GODDESS

Poles - a West Slavic (Lechitian) nation inhabiting the territory of the Republic of Poland and being its main population component (about 38 mln). Outside of Poland, they formed the Polonia (probably a similar amount of Polish emigrants spread all over the world).

Over 50% of Polish people inherited Slavian genes and that is the most common phenotype (till now) in our country.

The Slavs are an ethnolinguistic group within the Indo-European peoples who speak Slavic languages. Polish lands hide amazing secrets. Its greatest secret is the oldest preserved monuments in Poland - megaliths.

"For many years the origin of the Slavs has been the subject matter in archaeology, anthropology, history, linguistics, and recently also modern human population genetics. By now there is no unambiguous answer to the question of where, when, and in what way the Slavs originated. For the purposes of this dissertation, the analysis of ancient human mitochondrial DNA was applied. (...)  The highest number of shared informative haplotypes between Iron-Age and extant Polish population as well as the presence of subhaplogroup N1a1a2, can confirm that some genetic lines show continuity at least from Iron Age or even Neolithic in the areas of present-day Poland. The results obtained in this work are considered to be the first ancient contribution in the genetic history of the Slavs."

Diving in flooded medieval corridors leading to the castle on a nearby hill. One of the first breweries was built there in the 16th century.

Mount Ślęża is the highest peak of the Ślęża Massif in the Sudetes Foothills. Altitude 717.5 meters above sea level Together with Jasna Góra and Łysa Góra, Mount Ślęża was one of the main centers of the ancient faith of the local Slavs. Covered with forest, it emerges in all its glory on clear days. Its top was lit up by lightning during storms, which made it seem mysterious and a bit scary. Thanks to this, the name Ślęża, a reference to the element śląg, or ślęg, which means moisture, mud, and wet weather. Mount Ślęża, under which the river of the same name flows.

The ancient tribe living there was called Ślężans, and the whole land was called Silesia. 

At the slope of the mountain and on its top, you can admire the traces of the old Slavic culture, such as the remains of a small village from the 9th-5th century BC. Wooden huts with old equipment stimulate our imagination and take us back to ancient times. Some finds may even date back to the Iron Age. Later, a Christian center was erected in the same place, which was intentionally erected on Góra to obliterate the old beliefs of the Slavs.
